This summer, three fundraising events for the United Way of Beaver County (UWBC) exceeded previous years' totals, significantly contributing to the 2024/2025 Annual Campaign, which aims to raise $1.1 million.
On July 27th, Styropek and BASF, two prominent industrial leaders in Beaver County, united once again for the annual golf outing at Beaver Valley Golf Club, raising $22,681. With Styropek's commitment to match this amount, the total donation to the UWBC exceeded $45,000.
"One of the core values of Styropek is being a responsible corporate citizen within the areas that we operate our facilities. We truly care about the wellbeing of the community and its citizens, and view our involvement in the 2024 golf outing as something that can benefit many residents within our community through the United Way of Beaver County. We greatly appreciate the support of many local businesses and their donations that helped to make the 2024 golf outing a success," said Tim Ford, Manufacturing Leader at Styropek.
On August 4th, Range Resources took the lead as Presenting Sponsor for the 2nd Annual UWBC Purse Bingo at Monaca Turners. The event drew 200 attendees and raised over $28,000, doubling last year's total.
Continuing the summer of successful fundraising, the Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions hosted its 37th Annual Golf Outing on August 9th at Rolling Acres Golf Course, raising $17,200 for the UWBC.
"Supporting the United Way of Beaver County through our golf outing is more than just a charitable event, it's a great way to invest in the future of our community. By holding this annual event, we are championing vital programs and services that uplift those in need and strengthen local families. Every dollar raised helps build a brighter, more resilient Beaver County for everyone," said Scott Brunner, Executive Vice President/COO of West-Aircomm Federal Credit Union and UWBC Board Member.
Mary Lou Harju, Executive Director of the UWBC shared, "every dollar raised during these events stays right here in Beaver County, directly supporting our local community. The United Way of Beaver County allocates well over half a million dollars each year to non-profit organizations that work tirelessly to serve our most vulnerable residents. With traditional workplace campaign donations declining, especially in the wake of the pandemic, it's crucial that we find new revenue streams. Without these funds, some of the essential services provided by these organizations could be reduced or even eliminated, which would have a significant negative impact on our community. Fundraisers like these are vital to the success of our Annual Campaign, and I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support from our corporate partners and the individuals who participate in these events. Their generosity and collaboration truly embody the spirit of how we must Live United," said Harju.
